We are a nonprofit association, in existence since 1975. The objectives of the Northern California Whippet Club include: encouraging and promoting the training and breeding of purebred Whippets and doing all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection; urging members to accept the conformation standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club; doing all in its powers to protect and advance the interests of the breed; to encourage sportsmanlike competitions at dog shows, obedience, trials, race meets, open field coursing meets and lure coursing meets; conducting matches, races, coursing meets and other events; conducting training and practice, and disseminating knowledge regarding training for show, racing and coursing; encouraging and cooperating with other groups with similar purposes; promoting cooperation and good sportsmanship among its members in the training and competition with their dogs; instituting a system of awards to members owning outstanding show, racing, coursing, and obedience dogs; and encouraging the training of show judges and racing and coursing officials.
